About Bleaq

Bleaq is an art blog collecting visual inspiration focussed on the melancholic, bleak and dark side of fine arts, design, illustration, photography and fashion. There’s a new feature on Bleaq every monday, wednesday and friday.

Beauty is rarely soft or consolatory. Quite the contrary. Genuine beauty is always quite alarming.
― Donna Tartt, The Secret History

Bleaq?

Bleaq is an adaption of the word bleak, meaning gloomy and somber. The ‘q’ makes the name unique and – of course – look super fancy.

bleak (blēk)
adj. bleak·er, bleak·est
Gloomy and somber

About the author

bleaq-jantine
My name is Jantine and I’m an art enthusiast from the Netherlands working as a designer at an interactive agency. I’m the creator and sole editor of Bleaq, my favourite way of spending time when not at work :) If I can finally get myself away from my computer I’d like to get inspired by creativity from others: books, films, series, music and visiting museums. If you like to learn more about me take a look at my website or get in touch.

If you love dark art, then you really should pay Bleaq a visit, Jantine always finds the most beautiful works & I never fail to leave inspired. Just a warning though, you may lose yourself there for quite a few hours!

Beauty is terror. Whatever we call beautiful, we quiver before it.
