Martin Stranka is a photographer from Prague, Czech Republic. In his work Martin tries to capture the moment between dreaming and awakening, that vague and floating, state that can give you hyperreal illusions. Each image is focussed on one single person, emphasizing the thought of being able to look in someone’s dream. Dreams are a reflection of our feelings, and by keeping the setting quite abstract it’s up to the viewer to interpret the portrayed dreams as positive or negative. A fascinating approach carefully crafted into beautiful photos.

Thanks for reading! What do you think of Martin’s work?
To me this is painting, not photography. Photography is capturing a fleeting moment in time with some manipulation to the tone, colour, composition, but the basic image is
frozen as it existed. This is beautiful work but its using modern tools to paint.
As a career art director, I find Martin Stranka’s work extraordinary. He captures moments of exquisite serenity, regret, ecstasy, and sadness…often all at once. He is a master of poignant ambiguity…
…this allows the viewer to write his own narrative, which the best art photography does. Let’s face it, we are currently inundated in brilliant photography. Moments in time. The best of these images return tickets to a time and place full of intense meaning to us. Martin’s work captures this quiet intensity. Five out five stars.
