Dystopian cityscapes by Brian Mashburn

brian-mashburn-intro
Brian Mashburn is an artist living and working in Asheville, North Carolina. Brian works mostly in oils, and uses the medium to create fantastic, Dystopian cityscapes. Humanity seems to be completely gone in his work, although the dense cities in the background do suggest its existence. It’s the animals and vegetation that thrive in Brian’s work, showing them looking over the foggy cities that surround them.

The inspiration for the thick layers of mist in Brian’s work comes from his Asian-American heritage. Both the Appalachian mountains and South Eastern China and Hong Kong are known for their thick fog, a red thread in all of Brian’s paintings. The cities are a mixture of classic, modern and industrial architecture, a mix that turns them into one global, futuristic mega city.
