Aida Pascual is a photographer living and working in Burgos, Spain. The movement of Classic Romanticism is one of Aida’s biggest influences, although she’s chosen a photo camera as her medium instead of a paint brush. One of the movement’s most well known artists, German painter Caspar Davis Friedrich, once said:
“The painter should paint not only what he has in front of him, but also what he sees inside himself.”
It’s precisely that quote that you see reflected in the beautiful photographs by Aida. Just like in Friedrichs famous painting ‘Wanderer above the Sea of Fog’ we often see the portrayed people from the back, observing them observing something unknown. The portrayed are placed in the most beautiful landscapes, and with the strong, symmetric composition and scale of the person in relation to the scenery it makes you realize the fragility of humanity.
