You might remember the work of Tobias Kwan, an digital illustrator I featured last month. When I looked around his recent projects I noticed he is currently working on an art book called ‘Motherland Chronicles’. Being interested by the premise I clicked through to find out more and discovered he’s working on this project together with a fantastic photographer I’d love to introduce to you today.
Zhang Jingna is an artist from Beijing, currently living and working in New York. If you find yourself on Tumblr or Pinterest a lot you might have come across her work a few times, her wonderful pictures have been featured on many websites. I love how perfect Zhang’s work looks, all her images are photos yet sometimes you have to take a second look to make sure you’re not looking at a painting. Her work for ‘Motherland Chronicles’ makes me think of the romantic paintings from the Pre-Raphaelite era: gorgeous, mysterious woman portrayed with soft colors and velvet-like skin.
Thanks for reading! What do you think of Zhang’s work?
