German photographer Gundula Blumi grew up in a small town in Northern Germany, but has been calling Berlin her home now for years. The streets of the German capital are a perfect decor for Gundula’s haunting, distorted portraits. Inspired by elements that others might find dull or uninspiring Gundula captures small stories in every photo she takes. Gundula on her way of working:
“I like it to change pictures in different experimental ways, so that photos which have in their original form no or no interesting emotional effect suddenly have an effect, only by changing tiny details. With my work I intend to create bizarre photographs which trigger strange or unknown emotions.”
Drenched in emption yet distant or mysterious at first sight: Gundula’s work is both beautiful and fascinating.
