Lola Dupre is an illustrator and collage artist currently residing near Elche in Spain. All her work is handmade, she uses scissors to cut up paper and glue it on wooden panels. Often collage artists collect all sorts of images and combine them to tell a new story. Lola works different: she layers and fragments one single image into an alienating version of itself, and thus telling a whole new story with just one image. Buildings, super models in fashion editorials, historical artists and figures like M. C. Escher, Nicola Tesla and Abraham Lincoln and vintage Hollywood legends like Jane Fonda and Marilyn Monroe – Lola has done it, and she does it so well! If you enjoy the selection of Lola’s work found below make sure to check out her website: there’s a lot more, often including a reference photo of the original work. Enjoy!
– Just to give you an idea of the original piece: this is the previous image next to the original image by photographer Lisa Carletta.
