Vancouver based artist Heather Watts creates soft colored, pop surrealistic paintings influenced by animals and nature. The soft color palette gives Heather’s work a soft and sweet edge, although the subjects her work is dealing with is far from soft. In her paintings we see heroes and martyrs: “individuals struggling with forces larger than themselves” as Heather describes her work on her website. I love how Heather portrays such a dark subject in a light, and easy-on-the-eyes way, it creates a unique and remarkable portfolio. Enjoy!
