Canadian tattoo and fine arts artist Heather McLean shares a beautiful quote by German artist Gerhard Richter on her website:
Talk about painting: there’s no point. By conveying a thing through the medium of language, you change it. You construct qualities that can be said, and you leave out the ones that can’t be said but are always the most important.
I love how this quote connects to Heather’s work. There’s a lot to be said about her (or anyones) artwork, but there’s no better way than to just see the work yourself. My two cents about Heather’s work would be about how I really enjoy her mixing classic figurative painting with a symbolic, mysterious and fantastical theme.
