As a designer the first thing I think of when I see the abbreviation ‘JPG’ is a .jpg image file. Well, until recently! A few weeks ago I visited the beautiful exhibition ‘The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier’ at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam with my friend Anita (whose report of the visit you can read on her blog Ange Deforme). I might have confessed before that I’m not really a fashionista (come on, I read JPG as a image.jpg and not Jean Paul Gaultier!) but this expo blew me away. There are many iconic pieces on display (Madonna’s famous pointed bra for instance) and it was amazing to see all the rich details in the clothes I’ve just seen tiny pictures of online and in magazines. To show you some of my favourite sights I collected some pictures for you: not enough to spoil the exhibition if you still want to visit (it’s on a world tour!) but enough to get a glimpse of the rich oeuvre of Jean Paul Gaultier if you weren’t able to go. Enjoy!
If you’re in the Netherlands and would like to see the exhibition you’ll have to hurry: it’s on display until May 12th. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed my little glimpse in Jean Paul Gaultier’s mind.
