Bleaq is taking a break!

bleaq-break-intro
After more than four years of sharing amazing art, meeting fantastic people and working on something I always wanted to do I have some sad news: Bleaq is taking a break. Does that mean it’s the end? I don’t know yet!

What most of you probably don’t know is that Bleaq is run by just one person: Hi! I’m Jantine, a designer from the Netherland, nice to meet you :) I’m not working in the art business or as a curator, I started Bleaq purely out of my love for art. The small blog I started four years ago has turned into something much bigger over the years, something that makes me really proud. I learned a lot about how to run a blog, and found out that there actually are people out there that share my slightly morbid taste in art. ;)

Yet with the growth (and my goals to create an awesome, inspiring online art gallery) the to-do list for me every week grew and grew. It’s not only curating and writing the features, it’s a lot of email communication and planning, keeping up on social media, creating a fun newsletter and making sure everything runs smoothly when I’m at work at my dayjob and can’t check the site. Over the last two years I’ve been putting almost all my spare time in the website, which doesn’t leave a lot of room for something else I love to do: creating.

So that’s why I’m now taking a hiatus. This is a decision that wasn’t easy to make, I thought about it for months! Although I have mixed feelings about this – I haven’t fallen out of love with art – I do look forward to the times to come: exploring new possibilities and being able to start creating again.

So is this a goodbye? I hope not! I’ll still be writing guest features for Beautiful Bizarre and am definitely not abandoning my Pinterest! If you like to keep in touch with me as well come and say “Hi” on Instagram or Twitter.

Thank you all for joining me these last four years! I’m so happy that I got to meet so many lovely creative people, artists and readers, both online and in real life. I hope you’re all doing well, and hope we’ll meet again someday!

Thanks again!

Jantine.

Here's to hoping you are able to tackle what needs to be done and you find a new zest for sharing art. Your blog is a highlight and I definitely poach tons to add to my own pinterest art board!

    Take care, love!

  • Hi, i love bleaq! Really!

Sometimes, some pics and texts there saved me from the ordinary days. I love art. And your job just made this love bigger. Thank you for every work, artist, everything you posted here. Good luck in whatever you want to.

    Good wishes from Brazil.

  • NOOO :(( i mean.. ofc we all respect your decision and wish you all the best though :p
i’d like to thank you a 1000 times , i’m from Persia and religious conditions in country doesn’t allow me or anyone who love such artworks to be active or even look for it on the internet (by locally blocking such sites) . Your blog was a miracle to me, i could access it without proxy and every time expecting wonderful works from artist whom i’d obviously not know about. Just wanted to thank you <3

  • I just discovered your blog. I love it! I am always in search of real art. I am no expert but I know it when I see it – to me it is a feeling I get when I look at a painting or photograph, not a name or a particular style. Thank you for putting all this together and for having the same drive to seek out inspiration for those of us who appreciate it.

  • Ah that’s sad and wonderful at the same time. A beautiful blog, I hope you have the time to return to us in future, but in the meantime, hope you have the best time creating. Thank you for such a goldmine of fantastical, grotesque, curious and gothy artwork, perfect for my tastes. Best wishes and good luck!

  • I have only just discovered your blog/site today, Nov 29, 2017 and it is incredible. There is so much to look at and read that it will keep me busy for a long time. Sad to find out that you stopped it a year ago but can completely understand; what a massive job it must have been for you to keep doing it this long! I have so much admiration for you and I hope whatever you have chosen to do now fills you up emotionally and spiritually and I hope to find your newest endeavour somewhere in the future. Thank you for this and much good fortune to you.
    best regards,
    Daryll
