Becc Ország is an artist living and working in Melbourne, Australia. Her intriguing drawings explore the fine line between an Utopian and Dystopian reality, mixing things that are real with a layer of surrealism. Becc’s biography on her work:
“Ország is fascinated with the human desire for the existence of a higher place, beyond our earthly world, such as heaven or a utopia. Ország’s drawings grapple with the notion of unseen controlling forces, be it God or a god, beyond human sight, and those visible to us. She addresses the inherent need to be lead and belong, and inevitably how this has shaped us as a society and as individuals.”
I love the surreal angle of Becc’s work: the mirrored effects, gold embellishments and fantastic compositions that are all complimented by her wonderful use of light and shadow.
