Troy Brooks is an artist living and working in Toronto, Canada. His portfolio, often called The Women of Troy, show a gorgeous yet unsettling collection of surreal portraits. While regularly styled to the max and looking glamorous there’s something off with the women in Troy’s paintings: something dark is luring in the shadows of these paintings.
The portrayed heroines are captured in intimate moments, in scenes where something life-changing has just happened or is about to happen. This level of intimacy gives Troy’s work an eerie touch, sometimes you feel like you are looking at something that isn’t for you to see. Troy uses a lot of visual metaphors in the surrounding of the ladies, helping the viewers deciphering the stories behind the paintings.
