Jean-Francois B. is an artist from Korea, currently living and working in Paris, France. There’s an eerie vibe to Jean-Francois’s paintings, one that might originate from his discomfort towards reality. It’s no secret that I enjoy a melancholic vibe in art (I hope you do too, otherwise you might be lost here! ;)) and Jean-Francois captures melancholy like no other. On his website he states that creating art is like therapy, saying “it’s an obsessive quest of identity and well-being”. Reading that made me think of this earlier feature on Grace Lang, another artist who draws to cope with her emotions. I love it when art helps the artist move forward, and at the same time provide the world with the gift of beauty. A deep, dark form of beauty in Jean-Francois’s case, but definitely beauty.
You can find more of Jean Francois’s work on his website. Enjoy!
