Dark, surreal acrylic paintings by Hanna Jaeun

hanna-jaeun-intro
Hanna Jaeun is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. Hanna’s impressive acrylic paintings on wood are stunning and mysterious: realistic in style, yet surreal and dark in what they portray. The better you look at Hanna’s work, the more you start to unravel the story she wants to share through her art. Although some elements might look familiar; humans (that often don’t look human at all), animals, mythological and fantastic elements; the outcome is always a dark and surreal image. The solid black backdrop adds another mysterious element to the paintings, creating a spooky and otherworldly vibe I love.

You can find more of Hanna’s work on her website, Facebook page and Instagram. If you like to learn more about Hanna’s technique and way of working I recommend reading this interview at the lovely CVLT Nation website. Enjoy!
