There’s something enchanting about old things. Wether it’s classic art of vintage photographs of people who are no longer with us: it’s fascinating to see something old, portraying people who are no longer with us. For some artists it’s even a great starting point for their own art, for example today’s featured artist Giacomo Carmagnola. Giacomo Carmagnola is an artist from Treviso, Italy who creates creepy, glitches photo manipulations. Giacomo starts with classics works, ranging from photographs and art to film stills (remember that creepy elevator scene in ‘The Shining’? It can get creepier!) and turns them into something fresh with Photoshop. In an interview with Dazed Digital he states on his work:
“I see these images as an alternative beauty. I find it extremely fascinating how the same image can change so much by keeping its original ‘skeleton’. Of course they’re also visually impactful. But before this, I find them simply beautiful.”
I couldn’t agree more. If you like to see more of Giacomo’s work make sure to check out his website. Enjoy!
