Dramatic black and white illustrations by Nico Delort

nico-delort-intro

Nico Delort is a French/Canadian artist currently working from Paris, France. I’m super impressed by Nico’s work: he creates super detailed, high contrast, fantasy illustrations in ink. His medium of choice is scratchboard: a technique where the artist uses a sharp knife or other tool to etch a thin layer in a special kind of clay covered. The print is made with black ink. The resulting black and white, high contrast pieces have a great sense of drama to them, magnified by his compositions and other worldly scenery. Enjoy!

  • Wow. These are sensational. The depth and sense of atmosphere are mind blowing, especially for scratch board. I loved reading about his process, too.
