The moody, Renaissance inspired paintings of Nicola Samorì

It’s not only the beautiful works of art Italian artist Nicola Samorì creates that are fascinating; it’s also the mystery that surrounds his haunting pieces. Samorì’s website is a great showcase of his pieces, but tell little about the art of the man who creates it. Fortunately journalist Mia R. Benenate (The Huffington Post) got ahold of the man and got to ask a few questions about what motivates him to create this kinds of work.

“My work stems from fear: fear of the body, of death, of men. I think my nature as an artist is something like feeling hopeless. Works are just temporary shelters and painting is a leisure place where you can conceal yourself.”

I couldn’t have written a better prelude myself :) Enjoy!
