Cute yet creepy pop surrealistic paintings by Mark Ryden

mark-ryden-intro

There are a few artists who have been in my ‘Feature on Bleaq’-list since I first started thinking about starting an art blog. Mark Ryden is one of those artists. His unique combination of sweet pastel colour palettes, kids with enormous eyes and often disturbing subjects created a whole new genre of art in the 1990’s called ‘pop surrealism’. I’m a big fan of the ‘creepy and cute’-combination (remember featured artists Tom Bagshaw or Roby Dwi Antono?) and just couldn’t keep these beautiful images from you. Enjoy!
