The first time I saw a painting by Van Gogh in the – no surprise here – Van Gogh museum I was terribly annoyed by the fact that nobody was allowed to touch it. The depth in the paint by the ferocious brush strokes was something that really impressed me, and I would have loved to trace the shape with my fingers. While looking at Eric Lacombe’s portfolio online I get the exact same feeling as back then in the museum: these paintings would be so amazing to feel! The structure is something that really adds an extra dimension to these already wonderfully dark portraits. Of course the internet isn’t the best medium to appreciate such three-dimensional paintings such as Eric’s, but I hope it will give you a good impression of his work anyway. Enjoy!
Thanks for reading! What do you think of Eric’s work? And did you ever feel tempted to touch a piece of art in a museum?
